Assignment #8 People: Portraits Formal and Candid Emily

Part One

Up Close
This is my new baby cousin Callen. She is only a month old in this picture, and my mom and I were talking to her. She was trying to make faces with us.

 The Setting, Background, Environment, Scene
This is my mom's good friend, Alicia. We were playing Bunco at our friends' Peggy's house. Alicia had a little too much fun and was enlightening us with some stories.

 Uncommon Perspective
This is Callen again. I spent a lot of my spring break watching her with my mom and taking tons of pictures of her. I can't help it! She is just so cute!

 Dramatic Lighting- Artificial Light
This is my brother and his girlfriend at prom. The theme was, "A Night in Paris." They are going through grand march, and these big lamps are lighting them up.

 Dramatic Lighting- Natural Light
This is my mom. She and my dad took me to see a nice little pond that is near my house in Saint Marie. That day had some beautiful light, until it started raining.

 Expression is the Subject Here
My mom again. She was getting bored during JV basketball games and decided to make silly faces at me. I decided to take pictures and post them later to embarrass her.

Self Portrait
I got bored on our way to the pond and decided to take a selfie. The lighting was great that day, but I decided to use a filter to try to enhance my face.

 Portrait
My little Callen again. I set her up against her cutest blanket and let her pose. She is so adorable.

Part Two: My Choice

This is the little pond I went to. People can fish and camp here. I am looking forward to spending some time here in the summer!

After the pond, my mom, dad, and I decided to cruise. I experimented with some photos, and this was one of my favorites, minus the dirty side-mirror.

Ta-da! And Brellan makes Three

I love this picture. It had been a busy hectic day and little B was ready for some mommy & daddy time. The sky was gloomy without much color so used sepia to draw attention to the subjects and away from the lack of color.
Edited in Picasa. Cropped & Sepia Color.
1/640s   7mm   f/4.0   ISO 800

Sand Baby!

This little one spent most of the week being sick so not many happy face pictures. Luckily got this one in the first day we were there. Her favorite thing to do was dumping the sand down the front of her.
Edited in Picasa to focus on the subject and take away the distracting lawn chairs.

Birdseye View of the Jamaican Coastline
3/1/15  12:42 pm
Edited in Picasa (color enhanced)
Natural lighting brings out the white of the clouds and all the colors & depth of the water coastline. The bottom line of the reef draws your eyes from the bottom left to the right and back out the top left.
1/640s   11.6mm   f/4.5   ISO 80

ClubHotel Riu Negril Jamaica
3/1/15  10:55 am
Edited in Picasa (straightened)

Requirement #2 Improve on Nature with Photoshop or Other Editing Program

After
Jamaican Sunset Framed by Life Preserver
3/5/15   5:13 pm
Edited in Picasa (color enhanced & brightened)
I liked how the rope & railing created it's own frames with the setting sun in one and the boat in the other. I like changing colors of sunsets over the water.
Blues are my favorite.
1/400s   20.4mm   f/5.0   ISO 80

Before
Jamaican Sunset Framed by Life Preserver Unedited
Although I still like the warm subtle colors in this, I prefer the dramatic coloring effect of the enhanced version.

Requirement #3 Panorama

Yellowstone River Fishing Access at Intake

Requirement #4 Texture

Seashells by the Seashore
3/4/15  4:02

1/640s   4.8mm   f/5.0   ISO 800

Evening in Jamaica
3/4/15  5:08 pm
The setting sun creates a golden glow, creating reflections in the water and silhouetting the trees. Bird in flight adds to peacefulness of the landscape.
